 NEW YEARS RESCUE

Friday December 31, 2007

On New Years Eve the Fame got dispatched to Creek Road for an auto accident reported serious.  Assistant 51 arrived on scene shortly there after confirming entrapment and requested a helicopter on standby.  Rescue 53 and Engine 53 went responding within minutes of the the initial dispatch.  Once R-53 arrived on scene the rescue was hindered by the drivers side being wedged against a utility pole.  In addition, the utility pole was sparking and had like smoke near the top.  R-53 crew extricated the patient and Station 55 transported them to the LZ which Capt 51 had established.  All units cleared shortly afterwards.


TRENCH RESCUE

Friday December 28, 2007

Station 53 was dispatched to a Residential Trench Rescue.  Initial reports were a subject had fallen into a trench and was trapped up to their waist with debris.  Reports also indicated that the subject was complaining of chest and leg pains.  Rescue 53 and Ladder 53 made the response .  The patient was removed by their co-workers prior to the FD arrival.  Patient was then flown to HUP via PennStar.  Police are investigating.   


DWELLING FIRE

Wednesday December 19, 2007

In the early evening of Wednesday, Station 52 and 53 were dispatched to a dwelling fire.  Once hearing the police on location with smoke on the second floor Chf 53 upgraded the assingment adding Station 51 as RIT. Engine 52-2 arrived on scene shortly after and was the only apparatus up the narrow driveway. Engine 53 arrived right behind them and backed up the driveway and reverse laid from E52-2 to the hydrant about 1 block away. Once crews ventilated the fire presented itself and crews made quick knock down. Crew completed an extensive overhaul. Fire Marshals are investigating. (Pictures From Goshen5456)


Monday December 17, 2007

This past week the Fame Fire Company set a personal record, reaching over 10,000 Training Hours in one year. Never in the history of the Fame have we reached this goal. With multiple members earning such certificates as Fire I, II and EMT and with an average of 20+ members on Thursdays nights, it was never a question of if, but when we would beat this goal. Congratulations to all the members of the Fame for this Milestone Goal !


SARTOMER BURPS ...

At about 12 Noon the West Chester Fire Department (51,52,53) as well as Hazmat 15 were alerted to Hazardous Materials incident at the Sartomer Chemical Plant. On arrival Hazmat 15 confirmed with plant employees the chemical being released was non-toxic. Plant employees alerted emergency crews that due to high tempatures in the mixing tank, the tank was releasing excess pressure. Sartomer employees were responsible for all operations as the WCFD stood by. All area roads were shut down as a precaution.

Fame Fire Company was Accreditated as a Level I Water Rescue Emergency Response Team by the PA Water Rescue Instructors Association. This Accreditation is recognized by the PA Emergency Management Agency. The Accreditation certifies that Fame Fire Company has met a set of standards that includes staffing, training, and equipment. This accreditation is valid for 3 years. 
 
Water Rescue and Emergency Response - PA Fish and Boat Commission 
 
This course covers valuable swiftwater rescue techniques. Classroom and practical hands-on training includes: planning, medical considerations, rescue equipment, self-rescue and shore-based rescue techniques. Meets or exceeds NFPA 1670 Operations-level guidelines. Currently there are 25 firefighters certified in Water Rescue and Emergency Response. Also, there are 2 firefighters certified as PA Fish and Boat Commission Water Rescue and Emergency Response Instructors.

ENTRAPMENT ON ROUTE 926

Friday December 7, 2007

Around mid-afternoon the Fame got dispatched to Rt. 926 and South New Street for an auto accident with entrapment. Rescue 53 arrived on scene within minutes and began stabilizing the car and extricating the victim. Command had requested a helicopter but do to the weather, all helicopters were down. The victim was extricated and taken to the hospital via Station 55. WEGO and Birmingham Police are investigating.

ACCIDENT 202 NORTH OF PAOLI PIKE

While cleaning the firehouse and equipment prior to our monthly meeting, the Fame got dispatched to an auto accident reported serious. Rescue 53 and Engine 53 responding within a few mintues only to be hampered by the lengthy backup on Route 202 which the accident had caused. After confirming no entrapment Rescue 53 went available with Engine 53 and Squad 53 remaining on scene for lighting and general cleanup. West Goshen police are investigating.

OVER TURNED PICKUP

Monday December 3, 2007

A Dodge Ram 1500 sits on it's roof after losing control on a curve on Birmingham road just north of Country Club road Birmingham township at approximately 4PM on Monday. No one was injured in the accident. Birmingham police are investigating.
