ENGINE 53

Engine 53 is the second out apparatus for all structure fires within the Borough of West Chester and for all automobile accidents within the West Chester Fire Department response territory when Rescue 53 is due. It is also the first out apparatus on all structure fires outside the Borough of West Chester, within the West Chester Fire Department response territory, and all nuisance calls (automatic fire alarms, automobile fires, outside odor investigations, etc) within Station 53's first run district. Engine 53 is a 2000 E-One/Saulsbury engine packing a 2750-gallon per minute (GPM) Hale rear mount pump. It is equipped with a 750 water tank, Hale 5.0 Class A & B foam system, 50 gallon tank on Class B foam, 30 gallon tank of Class A foam, 2000 GPM remote deck gun, 15KW AMPS generator, 2 electric MIVs, and seating for eight (5 SCBA ready) firefighters. Engine 53 carries 2000 feet of 5 inch LDH, 500 feet of 3-inch supply, two 200 foot 2-1/2 inch blitz lines, and two 200 foot 1-3/4 inch attack lines. The engine also carries a full complement of hand tools, forcible entry equipment, high-rise pack, PPV fans, power saws, and gas/carbon monoxide detectors. |

LADDER 53
|
Ladder 53 is the first out apparatus for all structure fires within the Borough of West Chester and all commercial and high occupancy structures within the West Chester Fire Department response territory. Pre-assigned riding positions allow for quick deployment of the “Famed” ‘LADDER SPLIT'. It is also due on all elevator malfunctions as well as high angle and low angle rescues within the West Chester Fire Department response territory. Ladder 53 is a 1992 E-One 110 foot heavy-duty aerial ladder. It is equipped with 1000 GPM ladder pin-able waterway, 12 KW diesel generator, and seating for seven (6 SCBA ready) firefighters. Ladder 53 carries 220 feet of various ground ladders, a full complement of forcible entry equipment, high-rise pack, power saws, PPV fans, salvage and overhaul equipment, massive amount of ropes and rigging equipment, gas/carbon monoxide detectors, and a thermo imaging camera. |

RESCUE 53
|
Rescue 53 is the first out apparatus for all auto accidents, industrial accidents, residential rescues, and any type of rescue involving height and depth within the West Chester Fire Department response territory. It is also responds to all water rescues supporting Squad 53 and Boat 53 within the West Chester Fire Department response territory as well as mutual aid responses. Rescue 53 is a 1996 Spartan/Saulsbury heavy-duty walk-in rescue. It is equipped with 35 KW PTO generator, SulAir PTO air compressor, two Hurst Simo unit rescue systems, an incident command center, and seating for twelve (9 SCBA ready) firefighters. Rescue 53 carries a full complement of Hurst extrication equipment, various air operated tools, a full complement of forcible entry equipment, high-lift jacks, high and low pressure air bags, power saws, PPV fans, salvage and overhaul equipment, massive amount of ropes and rigging equipment, cold water suits, and gas/carbon monoxide detectors. |

TANKER 53
|
Tanker 53 is the second out apparatus for all structure fires outside the Borough of West Chester within the West Chester Fire Department response territory. Because of its unique set-up with foam capabilities it responses to all Hazmat incidents involving structures or automobile accidents within the West Chester Fire Department response territory. Tanker 53 is a 1990 Autocar/4-Guys stainless steel elliptical tanker equipped with a Hale QSMG 1000-gallon per minute (GPM) pump, a Feecon around the pump foam system, a 10” Newton electric dump valve (90 second water off load), a Hale electric MIV, and a 1000 GPM deck gun. Tanker 53 carries 3000 gallons of water and 180 gallons of Universal Class B foam, a 3500 gallon fold-a-tank, miscellaneous foam adapters and appliances, 300 feet of 3 inch supply line, one 200 foot 2-1/2 inch blitz line, and two 200 foot 1-3/4 inch attack lines. |

SQUAD/BOAT 53
Squad 53 is the first out apparatus for all water rescues with Boat 53 within the West Chester Fire Department response territory. It is also responds to all structure fires and auto accidents as a manpower hauler and support piece within the West Chester Fire Department response territory. Squad 53 is a 2004 Ford F350 with a Pierce body. It is equipped with 10 KW gas generator, a Hurst electric power unit and hose reel, and seating for five firefighters. Squad 53 carries a full complement of water rescue equipment, 2 cold-water suits, 2 dry suits, 6 sets of personal water rescue equipment, 2 SCBA packs, and forcible entry tools. Boat 53 is a 14 foot 2003 Starcraft with a 25 horsepower Yamaha motor.
