Around 1:30 pm this afternoon, Station 53 was dispatched to the 500 block of Mechanics Alley in West Chester Borough for a car fire. Upon arrival, Engine 53 had a car fully involved in a parking spot adjacent to an occupied dwelling. Due to the close proximity to the occupied dwelling, Assistant 53 (Scanlon) upgraded the assignment to a Dwelling Fire. Stations 51 and 52 and Ambulance 55 were alerted. Engine 53's crew made quick work of the car fire. Ladder 53's crew arrived and checked for extension into the dwelling. While window blinds and glass were melted and cracked by the fire's heat, there was no extension of fire into the dwelling. Command (Chief 53-McDonald) held the response to Engine and Ladder 53. West Chester PD also assisted on scene.
