This morning at 0747 hours, the WCFD was alerted along with Ambulance 55 to the reported house on fire in the 500 Block of Jeroma Lane. Crews were advised that the caller was reporting the mattress to be on fire. Chief 53 and Ladder 53 arrived and began investigating. Ladder 53 split it's crew and began an interior search. Crews were met with a moderate smoke condition on the first floor and located the burning mattress in the A/B corner. Crews quickly extinguished the fire with a portable extinguisher and removed the mattress outside. Engine 52-2 assisted with extinguishment and ventilation. All units returned for service by 0900 hours.
