Shortly after 5:30 pm this evening, Stations 53, 51 and Ambulance 55 were dispatched to the area of S. High Street and E. Rosedale Ave in West Chester Borough for an accident with a vehicle overturned and an occupant trapped inside. Engine 51-2 was enroute to an automatic fire alarm in their local and redirected to the more serious call. They arrived to find a car on its side with one trapped. Rescue 53 arrived on scene shortly thereafter and went to work. Crews from Rescue and Engine 53 stabilized the car with cribbing and Paratech struts. Gained access through the rear window for EMS crews to assess the patient. Once the victim was covered with a heavy blanket for protection, the Rescue Crew made quick work of flapping the roof to remove the driver. Engine 51-2 crew stretched a protective hoseline. The driver was cared for by Good Fellowship EMS providers and transported to a local hospital. WCPD are investigating the cause. All WCFD crews were back in service shortly after 6:00 pm.
