Ice Rescue involves entering extremely low temperature water in order to rescue or recover victims. Rescuers must train in real life ice rescue settings in order to obtain this certification. In the past, Fame Fire Company have sent candidates to New Hampshire for a weekend to obtain the 16-hour course sponsors by Lifesaving Resources, LLC. Pennsylvania recently started an in-state certification course that members are currently working on to receive the course equivalent. Skills learned involve self rescue, throwing, reaching and go techniques, and rescues using ice specialized ice rescue crafts.
