Just after 7:30 am on Friday March 14, 2014, Station 55 (Good Fellowship Ambulance) was dispatched to eastbound Paoli Pike at Rt 202 for an accident. Upon their arrival, EMS staff found a dumpster truck that had reportedly struck the Rt 202 overpass bridge and then overturned onto the driver's side with the driver still inside. They requested the fire department and an Advanced Life Support (ALS) unit to respond. Station 53 and Medic 91 were added to the call. Rescue 53 (OIC-Lt. K. Corcoran) responded with a crew of six rescue technicians, once on-scene, it was determined that a windshield removal was the most expedient method of getting the occupant out of the cab. Crews quickly took care of the windshield removal and assisted the victim out of the cab. He was evaluated by EMS and treated and transported for a scalp laceration. Engine 53 (OIC-FF J. McCabe) arrived and controlled a small fuel leak. Debris littered the roadway, which was shut down for several hours. West Chester and Goshen Fire Police assisted West Goshen Township Police with traffic control.
