From late April 29th to early this morning, a large low pressure system dumped close to 5 inches of rain in West Chester and the surrounding areas. The Fame Water Rescue Teams responded to numerous calls in and out of our call district answering calls of distress. Multiple people rescued from their houses which bordered the Brandywine Creek which was several feet above its banks. Two boats were launched to rescue and evacuate all of the residents along the Creek. Multiple people also had to be rescued from cars that ended up stranded in the roadway. Finally, Fame Crews assisted Station 39 (West Bradford Fire Company) with a rescue this morning around 0630 hours. A newspaper delivery man's car was swept off the road way and become lodge against a tree with water rushing in. Crews entered the water and retrieved the victim.
