Fame Rescue Recertifies!

May 27, 2019

Fame has, once again, been recognized by the Office of The State Fire Commissioner and the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of EMS VRSR Program as an ADVANCED-Vehicle and Machinery Rescue Service AND also a Type 2A-SWIFTWATER Rescue Service. This is the 5th time that Fame has been recognized at the ADVANCED level since 2006 and the 4th time we have been recognized as a SWIFTWATER rescue service since 2009.

Fame was the FIRST rescue service in the Commonwealth to receive DUAL recognition in 2009, and has remained a dual-recognized service since that time, one of very few dual-recognized services anywhere in Pennsylvania! This is a remarkable achievement for our 100% VOLUNTEER fire company. The dedication and desire to provide the highest quality services to our communities, along with the pride, leadership and professionalism of our members, has been the driving force that keeps us moving. We are fortunate to also have support from the WCFD. These are three year certifications.

The PA Voluntary Rescue Services Recognition (VRSR) program was developed through a collaboration of the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the Office of The State Fire Commissioner and the Rescue Task Force of the PA Emergency Health Services Council (PEHSC) to formally recognize those services that meet the goals set forth and achieve an outstanding level of commitment to providing the highest level of service for the health and welfare of the citizens of the Commonwealth. An applicant service must demonstrate that their members have attained and maintain special rescue certifications. The service must also carry and maintain certain specialized rescue tools and in specified quantities to be eligible for recognition at these levels.

A huge THANK YOU to all of our firefighters/rescue technicians who have helped us achieve this milestone!
