Busy Summer

Fame firefighters and rescue technicians have been very busy this summer conducting training at the West Chester Fire Department Training Center and responding to numerous emergency calls. Tropical Storm Isaias rolled through Chester County in late July/early August and left it's mark! Fame crews responded to numerous water rescue calls, wires calls and assessed structural damage of an occupied building in the heart of West Chester Borough after a tree had fallen onto the building. Heavy rainfall saturated the ground and several days after Isaias left, Fame swiftwater rescue crews were back out assisting stranded motorists. Crews assisted Po-Mar-Lin Fire with a vehicle stranded in flood waters and responded into Kennett Square Borough to assist there too. Crews were later called to assist Concordville Fire in Delaware County with a possible water rescue. Fame crews were advised by witnesses that an occupied vehicle was swept off the roadway into raging flood waters. Fame crews launched a boat into the darkness and discovered an overturned vehicle with a person clinging to the car. A swiftwater boat rescue was required to remove the victim who was evaluated by EMS once out of the water.
