Shortly after 6PM this evening, while Fame members were performing weekly apparatus checks before drill, Stations 54 and 56 (Goshen) were alerted for a building fire on Fairview Road in West Goshen Twp. Multiple calls were reporting smoke from an apartment building. Chief 54 (Everhart) requested the working fire dispatch and confirmed smoke was showing from a two-story apartment complex. Ladder 53 was assigned as the additional ladder on the box. Ladder 53 responded quickly with a crew of six firefighters and was assigned to the roof and interior for overhaul and assist with searches. The crew split and performed their assigned jobs. They operated on scene for about 90 minutes before returning to station. Meanwhile, the Rescue Crew, with the Squad and boats, traveled to Phoenixville at the Black Rock Boat Ramp and operated the two rescue boats in the Schuylkill River. Members practiced emergency boat operations refresher. The Engine Crew and remaining Rescue Crew members went to the WCFD Training Center and conducted vehicle extrication practice. The Engine also handled a rubbish fire on S. Matlack Street during drill. This week is also the Annual Goshen Fire Company Fair and Fame members participated in the FD Tug-of-War. While we did not win this year, we supported our brothers from Good Will and enjoyed the friendly rivalries this event brings out. Congratulations to all of the winners and good luck in the next round! Shortly after the crews returned from Goshen's Tug-of-War, Stations 52-53 and Ambulance 55 were alerted for a gas leak inside on E. Gay Street. Fame units once again responded quickly and, along with Good Will units, investigated the gas leak/odor. No FD services were needed and crews returned safely to quarters shortly before 11 PM. We'll post pictures of tonight's events when we get a chance...
