It is with deep regret that the Fame Fire Company announces the passing of Assistant Treasurer David P. Thomas. Dave joined the Fame in 1977, and worked his way through the ranks at Fame, while honing his skills as a firefighter. Dave worked on many committees and his expertise in financing helped the Fame tackle many capital projects throughout the years, and give the Fame a great vision for the future. Dave served as Vice President in the 1990's and then became President from 1995-1996. Dave moved out of the area for a few years but returned and became very active again becoming Lieutenant, and then Captain in 2006. Throughout his 47 years of service up to his passing, Dave also served as Treasurer, and Assistant Treasurer all while being an advisor to the administraton of the Fame.

Dave was very humble, and well liked at the Fame. He was never afraid to speak his mind, and enjoyed the comradery with the Famers. Dave loved to share stories, and listen to a few as well after drill nights, and meetings. He was a leader, and a mentor to all of us who will be missed dearly.

Thank you Boze!

I worked with Dave in his “day” job. Words that come to mind when I think of him are: decent, helpful, friendly, hard working, and humble. Mike, Thornton,PA

Thank you for your lovely tribute to Dave. I only knew him in his professional work in the insurance industry. Although he told me he volunteered as a fireman, I did not know the full extent of his dedication. Condolences to his family, may he rest in peace.

Dave’s parents and mine were good friends. I spent many times with his family growing up. I also worked with Dave in insurance where he gained prominence in the insurance industry and was greatly respected by his peers. I joined Fame because of him and always appreciated his wisdom and honest thoughts. We lost a true friend.

Dave and my father worked together. My dad invited Dave up to the Mts for a fishing or hunting weekend (thinly veiled as a sitting by the fire with a cold one). Dave quickly became “one of the guys” and was a regular for 30 some years. He was at my wedding, birthday parties and other events. He was a great guy, with a big heart and will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences Marie

I was saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I worked with him at The Institutes in Malvern. He was always so professional, with a kind heart, subtle sense of humor and wonderful spirit. I always enjoyed interacting with Dave. He will be missed. Thank you for posting this wonderful tribute and educating us on the work he did as a firefighter and administrator throughout the years. Dave was so very proud of his position there.
