Today, five Fame members successfully completed a grueling specialized training class at the West Chester FD Training Center. The FEMA Urban Search and Rescue equivalent Structural Collapse Specialist class taught by Spec Rescue International out of Virginia Beach, VA. Since late June, these members volunteered their time to improve their knowledge, skills and abilities to safely operate at a structural collapse incident. Along with learning more about building construction and collapse patterns, they learned how to build and install emergency building shoring, concrete breaching and breaking, torch use, heavy rigging basics and crane operations. They put it all together on the last day with several scenarios requiring them to put into practice all that they have learned. They all successfully passed two written exams, as well.

Congratulations to Captain Rob Rawley, Lieutenant Nick Sands, Firefighters Jeremy Sullivan, Kip Martin and Dan Allard. Their dedication to the community reflects the best that Fame has to offer and is in line with our motto, “With Willing Hearts We Hasten To Assist!”
