Shortly before 1300 hours, the WCFD was dispatched to the 200 Block of South Matlack Street for the Apartment Fire. Assistant 53 arrived on location with smoke showing from the first floor apartment and established command. Engine 52-1 arrived and stretched an 1.75" line to side A. Ladder 53 arrived simultaneously and split their crew. The Ladder's interior crews searched the apartment as the line was being stretched into the fire room. The interior crews located the resident's dog behind a closed door and safely removed it from the structure. The Engine crew located the fire in the kitchen and contained it to that area. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes. Two pets were rescued from the residence and no injuries occurred during the incident.

Just as units were wrapping up from the first assignment, Chester County Fire Board alerted command that they were dispatching units to the Bryn Mawr Trust Bank on Paoli Pike for the Building Fire. Engine 54-1, returning back from the first box assignment, was instructed to take in the call, arrived on location and reported a smoke condition throughout the building and stretched a line. Rescue 53 arrived and sent their crew in to assist. Ladder 53 arrived, raised the aerial to the roof, and sent a crew to the interior to locate the fire. Crews located steps to the attic and reported a medium smoke condition. Crews located an active fire in an HVAC unit and extinguished the fire. Firefighters spent 30 minutes ventilating the structure.

FM 101 was on location for both incidents to investigate the cause.
