Last evening at the West Chester Borough Hall, Assistant Fire Chief Mike McDonald was sworn in as the new Fire Chief of the West Chester Fire Department (WCFD). Chief McDonald will begin his three year term on January 1, 2015. Chief McDonald succeeds Chief Dale McClure, whose term is complete at the end of this year. Mike has been a member of Fame for over 30 years and has served as Assistant Fire Chief for the past nine years. He has risen through the ranks and has served in every line officer position during his time at Fame. He also recently served as the Task Force Leader for the Chester County Fire Task Force.

Lieutenant Kevin Corcoran was also sworn in as the newest Assistant Fire Chief in the WCFD, succeeding Mike McDonald, effective on January 1, 2015. Kevin has been at Fame for nearly 40 years and has also risen through the ranks, serving in every line officer position, including Department Fire Chief. Kevin also serves as the Task Force Leader for the Chester County Rescue Task Force and was recently appointed to FEMA USAR PA Task Force 1 as a Technical Search Specialist.

We are very proud of these two men and wish them much success in their new roles. The WCFD is extremely fortunate to have such dedicated and experienced officers leading the department into the future.

Best of luck Chiefs!
