Patriot Day Activities

Today, several Fame members and guests participated in the Annual Fame Golf Outing at Broad Run Golf Club. Those participating had beautiful weather and enjoyed some laughs, stories and a nice food spread back at the station afterwards.

However, today is the Anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States by cowardly radical Islamists that took the lives of over 3000 innocent people, 343 of whom were firefighters with the FDNY. Losing so many firefighters at a single incident shakes us to the core to this day. While the FDNY has survived this terrible tragedy, we still remember their sacrifice and the sacrifices of so many who have given their lives for freedom's sake. US Marine 1st Lt Travis Manion is but one example. After his death on foreign soil fighting for our country, his family and friends established the Travis Manion Foundation ( http://www.travismanion.org/) to support those who serve. This foundation sponsors 5K runs throughout the US and other countries and crews from Fame and the other West Chester FD companies participated in tonight's event through downtown West Chester. Many WCFD members ran and or walked the course, some wearing full turnout gear and airpacks! We salute all who particiapted and most importantly, all who keep us safe each and every day of the year.

We will NEVER FORGET those who have gone before us!
