At 1403 hours, Station 53 and Brush 51 was dispatched to the 300 Block of Beech Lane for a brush fire. Homeowner reported that he was conducting a control burn and it got out of hand. Assistant 53 arrived and had roughly a 75 x 100 area of brush involved. Engine 53 arrived and went in service with their booster reel. Brush 51 arrived shortly after and worked the back end of the property. Engine 51-2 arrived soon after and supplied Engine 53 and Brush 51.

While these units operated, Rescue 53 was tapped out for a residential rescue at the Starbucks. The victim was locked in the bathroom and unable to open from either side. The Rescue Crew responded and forced entry freeing the victim.

As crews were wrapping up, the Box Assignment was toned out for the 400 Block of West Chestnut Street for the house fire. Ladder 53 arrived first in and reported a 3-story twin with nothing evident. After a short investigation, crews located a small fire in the kitchen that was extinguished before the fire companies arrival. The assignment was held to Ladder 53 and Rescue 53 for ventilation.
