Just before 2:30 pm this afternoon, WCFD units (Station 52/53 and Eng 51-1) and Good Fellowship EMS (Station 55) were dispatched to the 900 block of Greystone Drive in West Goshen Twp. for a dwelling fire. Initial calls reported fire in an attached garage. Chief 53 (McDonald) arrived shortly after dispatch and reported a 2-1/2 story single family dwelling with heavy fire showing from Side A/Division 1 in the area of the garage and requested the Working Fire Dispatch. Ladder 53 and Engine 52-2 were en-route within three minutes of dispatch and arrived on scene four minutes later. Engine 52-2 stretched a supply line and led off with a 2-1/2" attack line to attack the main body of fire and protect the exposure dwelling, while Ladder 53 positioned in front of the fire building and split. The Ladder interior team conducted a primary search and used the pressurized water can to keep a small amount of fire in check at the closed interior garage door, while the Engine crew placed the large caliber hand line in service. Additional 1-3/4" hose lines were stretched to the interior fire floor and the floor above. The bulk of the fire was quickly knocked down and extensive overhaul was needed to fully extinguish all pockets of hidden fire. Through the coordinated and aggressive efforts of all on scene fire damage was confined to the two car garage area. There was smoke and water damage in other parts of the dwelling and radiant heat from the fire caused siding on the exposure house to melt. One FF from Station 52 was injured during the firefight and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Chester County Fire Marshall's Office, The West Goshen Twp Fire Marshall's Office and West Goshen PD.
