| Rain drenched the Chester County area for most of the day yesterday and was capped off late last night with a strong squall line dumping rain throughout the area. The Brandywine Creek breached its banks as storm runoff upstream made its way down into our area. Early observations have the creek cresting this morning at 11.5 feet, which is classified as moderate flooding according to NOAA. Around 0830 hours this morning Station 53, 55 Ambulance and Medic 91 was dispatched to the area of the Brandywine Picnic Park on S Creek Road for a water rescue. Chief 53, Asst. 53 responded and were advised that a vehicle had attempted to cross a flooded roadway and become stuck in waist high waters. The occupant freed himself from the truck and was stranded on-top of the vehicle. Delco Rescue 59 was in the area and made the response and confirmed the report. Squad 53 with Boat 53-2 responded and launched its boat to reach the victim. Fame's Water Rescue Team was able to safely transport the victim to dry land without incident. Rescue 53 and Boat 53-1 stood by. Please, when approaching flooded roadways, TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN! |
