I currently co-own Chester County's oldest real estate office (started in 1909). I'm probably going to stick with it for a while to see how it goes.

Firefighting is a great way to serve your community while doing something active and interesting. It is something I have always wanted to do, so when my son said he was interested in joining Fame, I figured this would be a great opportunity for us to do something meaningful together.

I have four children and I try to be a big part of their lives because I have seen how fast time moves. Outside my family time, I qualified for this year's New York City Marathon , so I am spending a lot of my time training for that. I also volunteer as a running coach at my kids' elementary school, I am on the board of a local cemetery, and I write a regular op-ed column for the Daily Local News.

Fame is pretty unique in that we have so many areas of specialization. We have a fire engine with hoses, just like you would expect, but we also have a ladder truck, a heavy rescue truck, boats for water rescue, and drones for risk management and search and rescue. But what I like best is that the senior members are always happy to take the time to help junior members get hands-on experience in everything from the most basic skills to the most technical.

Honestly, it was a young girl who was stuck in a baby swing. She was scared, she was in pain, and we showed up with our huge, loud trucks, carrying the actual jaws of life, but the two senior firefighters working with her just calmly asked her for her name, and chatted with her, made a couple of dad jokes, showed her the small pair of snips they were going to use. They took as much time reassuring and calming her as they did cutting away the swing.
