The Fame Fire Company is one of three 100% volunteer fire companies that make up the West Chester Fire Department. The company is the primary truck and rescue company for the Borough of West Chester and five surrounding municipalities. We also specialize in all disciplines of technical rescue and serve as a lead agency with the Chester County Rescue Task Force. Conveniently located by the West Chester University campus, the Fame Fire Company has recently finished a fire station expansion and renovation project. The project includes expanded apparatus bays, new bunk rooms, a six person live in suite, renovated game room and a state-of-the-art company meeting / training room.         

Live In Suite - Private Kitchenette

Our Live-In Program went live on November 5, 2020 with the acceptance of our original five live in firefighters. Due to the success of our program, we have expanded our Live-In capacity to eight members.  We are pleased to announce the following Live-In Program benefits:

Eight single occupancy dorm rooms with six rooms located in our private secured Live-In Suite.

Private kitchenette and two shared full bathrooms for Live-In Suite use.

Eligibility requirements for the Fame Live-In Program:

High school graduate

18 years of age

Fame Fire Company member

The applicant must have the following certifications

IFSAC/Pro Board Firefighter I

First-Aid & CPR 

Equivalency testing/recertification will be discussed on a case-by-case bases

As a participant in the Fame Fire Company Live-In Program you will become part of a highly trained team of volunteer firefighters.  The Fame specializes in technical rescue and ladder operations.  We are always looking for individuals who have a desire to focus their skills in these particular areas.  A number of our former Live-In’s currently work as paid full time firefighters in municipal departments such as Baltimore City F.D., Montgomery County, Md. F.D. and Baltimore County, Md. F.D.  Current Live-In Program members work for the Chester County Department of Emergency Services and several regional departments as paid drivers.
